6 TIPS to Overcome Your Poor Body Image!
Overcome poor body image RIGHT NOW with these 6 simple, effective, and definite DO’s!
First of all, girl, you are gorgeous!
Own it! All of it! Poor body image plagues almost all women I know. The vision I had of my poor body image got me so bad way back that I fell into and struggled with anorexic. Yeah, no joke. Now, I have practices daily to encourage high confidence and remind myself that I am strong and absolutely sexy and there are plenty of resources available to women of all walks of life to increase a better vision of themselves.
Aside from the mindstuff like maintaining positive thoughts, there are a few, able-to-do-now tips I’m sharing that helped abolish my idea of what I should be and INSTANTLY gave me a better feeling about myself and eerr MY BODY!
Here is my list to you of 6 life-changing ways to overcome a poor body image so let’s dive in!
#1 Throw out the scale
Toss your scale! No, I mean it. Throw that thing away or at the very least put it up somewhere you won’t think about it, a back bedroom, closet, the basement etc. Don’t get mad at me, but your body weight is going to change through life. You will have fluctuated, settled, lost (for no damn reason), then gained some. You know what? It is absolutely OKAY!
I stopped looking at a scale when I was overcoming anorexia. I was obsessed with my weight and it made me sick, literally. Don’t obsess. Time will tell your ideal weight. It is not necessarily the number you were in highschool, before pregnancy, before a medical issue, etc. You will find it when you start working on you, via exercise and the diet that’s right for you. If you absolutely insist on a scale make sure it is an accurate one!
#2 Stop comparing
“Comparison is the thief of joy” - Eleanor Roosevelt
There are sooooo many women and no two are alike. Our bodies, bones, muscles, feet, hands, are all different, so why would you ever think you could look like, or want to look like, anyone but you? The most amazing bit about the world too, is you are in competition with only yourself. Focus on you. Our differences are what makes us beautiful and unique. Even if you’re not the size you are working to become you should rejoice in your body’s abilities now! So celebrate yourself! For your sake, never compare yourself to anyone, ever!
It is way okay to see women in the sense of where you want to be physically or look up to someone with success you’de like to achieve but stop hurting your feelings by looking at yourself as unworthy, not good enough, or, yuck, even worse, ugly. YOU ARE AMAZING, STRONG AND SEXY RIGHT NOW and it just gets better from here!
#3 Wear clothes that make you feel INCREDIBLE
Wear clothes that actually fit and make you feel good. PERIOD. You should have nothing in your closet that makes you feel bad or fits poorly. No one cares what size you are, just you. Our bodies are not alike. Just because your friend or coworker is the same height as you, doesn’t mean you should be wearing the same size and no one cares what size you were in highschool.
Bonus? You will actually look better if you wear the size that fits you! Good bye tight jeans and hello sexy butt! Your tops too. While I never dreamed I’d reguarly wear a large top or even an XL, low and behold, thats my normal T-shirt size. Put on a sexy bra. Wear sexy underwear every day!

#4 Get moving
Even just the smallest amount of activity during the day will reap rewards. Be it for your body or your mind, 30 minutes a day is all you need to stir up the good feeling chemicals in your body! Getting your heart pumping will also encourage the feeling faster via better blood circulation.
Better still? The dreadful “E” word EXERCISE. Finding some semblence of a fitness routine that fits your lifestyle will build tremendous confidence. Your body becomes stronger and so does your mind! There are so many exercise avenues you can explore! My favorite is strength training via lifting weights. You can practice yoga or pilates. Even just a brisk walk every morning or night will suprise you in how you end up feeling! Plus, activity stimulates our nervous system and improves organ function which equals less bloating and almost instantly begins improving our body’s composition (face slimming and firmer tummy ;)!).
NEW to exercise? Here’s a great place to start!

#5 Be around those who LOVE and ADORE YOU
Being in the company of those that want nothing from you except your company are THE BEST for building self-confidence and takes away all focus on what you look like! Make sure you spend time with people that never put you down or critisize what you wear or look like. No one should ever have anything to say about your appearance. Surround yourself only with those who lift you up and encourage you every day!
#6 Give OTHERS compliments
Know that feeling you get when out of the blue a stranger gives you a compliment? The feeling is mutual as when you see a strangers eyes light up from hearing one from you! Give them! FREELY! A dress you like? Shoes? The color of someone’s eyes? A stunning smile? Brilliant teeth? Let them know you see them and make them feel good.
When we turn the focus away from ourselves and give it to others and let them know how wonderful they are, the impact is astounding, for them, and for us. It’s like the gratitude formula, if you give it more the universe returns to you triple or ten-fold. So, tell someone they’re beautiful today. Give compliments like they’re going out of style. Just do it when and where you can. The more frequently you do it the more you will want to do it and the easier it becomes! I promise the universe will reward you.
Final thoughts,
Ladies, hear me out. It all starts in your head. Give yourself credit. Today is all you have so stop putting yourself down with ill thoughts of yourself. Give yourself a damn break and look forward to a happier, more comfortable, confident you, one step at a time. If you start putting in the work, both mental and physical, you won’t be dissapointed. Wear the clothes that make you smile and feel great. Move a little every day and give love to others and first, YOURSELF!
